Josh Jacobs Returns to Packers After League Exemption Lifted
Josh Jacobs spoke publicly for the first time since his May arrest as he prepares to rejoin the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs Addresses His Absence
Packers running back Josh Jacobs spoke to reporters on Wednesday for the first time since his arrest in May. The league removed him from the commissioner exempt list on Monday. He missed six games while on the list following an incident with a woman at his home.
Jacobs said he made a mistake and apologized to the team. He pleaded no contest on Sept. 10 to charges of battery and criminal destruction of property. He was convicted of battery, fined $1,000, and reached a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage charge.
Jacobs stated he was never concerned that his career was over. He noted that a quick decision can alter a life, but he is focused on learning from the situation and moving forward.
Team Support and Rushing Game Needs
The league investigation remains active due to surveillance video from the garage where part of the incident took place. Both Jacobs and the woman have filed lawsuits to permanently seal that evidence.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he believes in second chances and supported Jacobs through the offseason program and training camp. Green Bay needs help on the ground. Without Jacobs, the Packers have the worst rushing offense in the NFL, averaging just 59.8 yards per game.
Jacobs was the team's leading rusher over the past two seasons. He ran for 2,258 combined yards and scored 28 rushing touchdowns across the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Jordan Love Status Ahead of Detroit
Quarterback Jordan Love expects Jacobs to play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Love said the offense will give Jacobs as many touches as he needs to get rolling.
Love was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday with a back injury. The team held a walk through rather than a full practice. Love said there is no chance he will miss the upcoming game in Detroit.
