Another Delay for Babalola

Michigan offensive lineman Andrew Babalola has suffered another setback in his recovery from a major knee injury. The highly rated tackle will not make his debut for the Wolverines in the immediate future.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham shared the disappointing news on Monday. Whittingham confirmed that Babalola "will not be available in the near future, unfortunately." The setback will delay his return to the field even further.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound player came to Michigan in 2025 as a highly rated prospect. He was the number 28 overall recruit in the nation, the number one recruit from Kansas, and the number eight offensive tackle in his class.

Looking at the Offensive Line

Babalola has yet to play a game for the Wolverines. He suffered an ACL tear in August of last year during preseason camp, which forced him to miss the entire season.

He was expected to compete for playing time on the offensive line this year. However, he experienced a minor setback midway through camp. This ruled him out of the season opener against Western Michigan.

In Babalola's absence, junior Blake Frazier has started the first two games of the season at left tackle. Frazier brings valuable experience to the position, having made eight starts for the team last year.

Potential Return for Link

While Babalola remains out, the Wolverines could get some help back on the offensive line this week. Senior guard Evan Link may return to action.

Link missed Saturday's victory against Oklahoma due to an injury. He is an experienced veteran with 19 career starts under his belt. His potential return would provide a helpful boost to the unit as they prepare for their next matchup.
