League rescinds Monday call

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic received good news from the league office following his team's recent game. The NBA announced that it has officially rescinded the technical foul assessed to him late in the second quarter of Monday's 138-117 victory over the Miami Heat.

The decision from the league office reduces the season total for Doncic from two technical fouls down to just one.

Managing technical fouls

Doncic managed to avoid whistles entirely early in the schedule. He was not whistled for a technical foul in his first four games of the season. However, his whistle on Monday was his second technical foul in his past three games before the league decided to overturn the call.

Keeping his total low has been a focus for the superstar. "This season," Doncic said on Oct. 21, "I'm trying to not get techs."

History with suspensions

Limiting calls is essential due to strict league rules. An NBA player receives an automatic one game suspension and a $5,000 fine if he is whistled for 16 technical fouls during the regular season.

Doncic has hit that mark of 16 technical fouls in four of his eight seasons in the NBA. That history includes last season with Los Angeles. He was forced to serve a one game suspension during a 120-101 victory for the Lakers over the Washington Wizards on March 30.
