Newcastle Face Growing Injury List Ahead of Hull City Match

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle is waiting for news on winger Anthony Elanga. The 24-year-old winger was not included in the matchday squad for Monday's game against Leeds United. Without him, Newcastle suffered a 4-1 defeat at Elland Road.

Elanga went for an MRI scan to get more clarity on the situation. Jaissle spoke with the player before the scan and is hoping for a positive update.

Jaissle said he hopes the injury is "not that serious" because the team counted on Elanga. He had a great start to the season and his style of play is a key strength for the squad.

More selection headaches for Jaissle

The injury list is growing for Newcastle before they host Hull City at St James' Park. Full-back Amar Dedic is also ruled out for Saturday. Jaissle had thought about pushing Dedic further up the pitch, but that is no longer an option.

Jacob Murphy started on the right wing on Monday and remains an option. Jaissle described Murphy as an experienced and intelligent player who knows exactly what the manager demands from him in that position.

Midfielder Jacob Ramsey is also set to miss out. Jaissle confirmed he does not expect any of his currently sidelined players to return for the Hull match.

Gonzalez ruled out after head blow

Newcastle will also be without Nico González for Saturday's match. He had to leave the pitch in the 19th minute against Leeds after being hit in the head with the ball. Jaissle described the incident as unlucky, saying the hit was strong enough to knock him out.

The manager explained that the club must follow the league protocol, which he praised for its advanced approach. Gonzalez is feeling much better and is able to train, but he will be kept out of the game as a precaution.
