Staying Put in Baltimore

Derrick Henry is not going anywhere. The Baltimore Ravens have no plans to trade their running back before Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Reports had surfaced about a potential deal, but Baltimore recently told Henry directly that they intend to keep him.

Rumors linked Henry to his former head coaches, John Harbaugh in New York and Mike Vrabel in New England. There is no evidence either coach inquired about Henry. Baltimore never considered dealing the five time Pro Bowler. The New York Giants did ask about running back Justice Hill, but Henry was never on the market.

Injury Troubles and Playoff Hopes

The trade rumors gained traction because Baltimore has faced major injuries at quarterback. Tyler "Snoop" Huntley is out for the season, and Lamar Jackson is currently sidelined with hopes of returning later this year.

To stay competitive, the Ravens looked at former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Sitting at 4-5, Baltimore still expects to contend for a playoff spot. They recently suffered a 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, marking their third straight loss by 20 points or more. That is a first in franchise history. Still, the team believes Henry can help support whoever plays quarterback.

Milestones and the Road Ahead

Henry stressed that the team needs to perform better. He noted after the game that he has not asked for a trade and wants to get back to work to turn things around.

The 11 year veteran reached a major milestone on Thursday. He passed Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson to reach seventh place on the NFL all time rushing list. Henry now has 13,707 career rushing yards. He sits within reach of Curtis Martin, who has 14,101 yards in sixth place.

Baltimore now faces a more favorable schedule. They play the last place Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, followed by road games against Carolina and Houston.
