Broncos Defense Stops Chiefs on Goal Line for 28-24 Win
The Denver Broncos stopped the Kansas City Chiefs at the goal line in the final seconds to earn a 28-24 victory on Sunday.

Fourth Quarter Rally
Denver trailed 24-13 in the fourth quarter before making a late comeback. The Broncos scored two touchdowns in the final quarter, using just 4 minutes and 53 seconds of possession time, to take a 28-24 lead.
Kansas City responded quickly. Emmett Johnson returned the kickoff 44 yards to the Chiefs 44 yard line with 1:56 remaining. Four plays later, Patrick Mahomes had the Chiefs at the Denver 4 yard line with 35 seconds left on the clock.
Goal Line Defense
The Broncos defense needed to hold from the 4 yard line. Kenneth Walker III ran to the 1 yard line on first down. Mahomes threw an incomplete pass on second down, and backup safety JL Skinner stopped Walker for no gain on third down.
On fourth down, Mahomes threw what looked like a touchdown pass to Rashee Rice. The play was called dead because Chiefs right tackle Jaylon Moore was called for a false start. It was one of 11 penalties for 105 yards for Kansas City. On the final play from the 6 yard line, Jonathon Cooper pressured Mahomes, and Malcolm Roach sacked him to end the game.
Moving Up in the AFC West
The 28-24 win moved Denver to 6-2 and into first place in the AFC West while Kansas City fell to 5-2. It marked Denver's 15th straight victory in one score games.
After the final stop, Broncos tackle Mike McGlinchey mentioned that he said a few Hail Marys while watching the defense work. Receiver Marvin Mims Jr. said watching those situations would take years off his life because his heart was going so fast.
