The Denver Broncos are keeping their faith in offensive coordinator Davis Webb despite a rough start to the season. Denver managed only 176 yards from scrimmage in a 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday.

Even after the struggle, the team maintains a high level of confidence and comfort in their first year playcaller. Head coach Sean Payton continues to support Webb and expects him to be a successful coordinator.

Payton made it clear that the blame does not fall on Webb alone. He noted that the entire offensive unit needs to perform better. Payton said there was dirt on a ton of people's hands, starting with himself, and emphasized the need to learn from the loss quickly.

Offseason Interest and Nix's Struggles

Webb was a popular assistant coach during the offseason. He interviewed for open head coaching positions with the Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens. He had other opportunities to become an offensive coordinator, but the Broncos chose to promote him from quarterbacks coach to his current role in February.

To make the offense work, quarterback Bo Nix must bounce back. Nix struggled against the Chiefs. He fumbled three times, losing one of them, and threw an interception. He was also sacked four times, which was a career high.

When asked how the offense can make things easier for Webb in Week 2, Nix paused briefly and got straight to the point. The third year quarterback said they need to get first downs and score points. Denver will return home to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, who traveled to Denver and left with a 34-20 victory last season.
