Chargers Place Safety Derwin James Jr. on Injured Reserve
The Los Angeles Chargers placed safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve after he suffered a rehab setback.

Derwin James sidelined with hamstring injury
The Los Angeles Chargers placed safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve on Saturday. The Pro Bowl safety has not taken the field since a loss at Buffalo on Sept. 27 because of a hamstring injury.
The decision was expected after head coach Jim Harbaugh announced this week that James suffered a setback in his rehab and recovery. James will now be forced to miss at least four games for the 0-6 Chargers, who are preparing to take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Secondary moves and replacements
With James out, the Chargers shuffled their roster to add depth in the secondary. The team signed cornerback Isas Waxter to the active roster and promoted cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad.
Waxter spent last season on the Chargers practice squad after initially signing with Seattle as an undrafted free agent. He has played in two games so far this season as a standard elevation. Elam brings starting experience, having started 19 out of 43 career regular season games with Buffalo, Dallas, and Tennessee.
Additional injuries on the roster
James is not the only player missing for Los Angeles. Left guard Kayode Awosika will sit out his fifth consecutive game due to a leg injury.
The Chargers also ruled out defensive back Deane Leonard because of a concussion. Wide receiver Brenen Thompson will miss the game as well due to quad and hamstring injuries.
