Jets Defense Takes Hit as T'Vondre Sweat Moves to Injured Reserve
The New York Jets placed starting nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat on injured reserve after he sustained a knee sprain.

Big Blow to Defensive Front
The New York Jets placed starting nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat on injured reserve on Saturday. Sweat suffered a knee sprain last Sunday and will sit out for at least the next four games.
The defensive tackle weighs 366 pounds and is not facing a season ending injury, according to a report source. He will be eligible to return on Nov. 29 when New York plays the Miami Dolphins.
Roster Moves and Depth Issues
Sweat was already ruled out for Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium. His absence comes as New York struggles against the run, allowing 127.7 yards per game to rank 24th in the league. Rookie Darrell Jackson Jr., a fourth round pick from Florida State, is expected to start in his place.
The Jets have lost two straight games and carry a record of two wins and five losses. Depth is a major concern on defense. Defensive tackle David Onyemata went on injured reserve in Week 3 after core muscle surgery. Edge rusher David Bailey is doubtful with a groin injury. New York signed Payton Page to the active roster and brought up Quinton Bell from the practice squad to help cover the open spots.
Sweat's First Season in New York
New York acquired Sweat in an offseason trade with the Tennessee Titans. He missed part of training camp with a hamstring injury but played in all seven games prior to his knee sprain. Sweat recorded 17 total tackles and two tackles for loss on the year without registering a sack.
