West Brom take control at London Stadium

West Ham head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is feeling the pressure after a 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. The loss at London Stadium leaves West Ham six points off the pace in eighth place in the Championship. It is a second consecutive home loss for the side, having conceded six goals across those two games.

West Brom moved into the top four with the victory. Their 3,000 travelling fans enjoyed the result against Nuno, who previously managed their rivals Wolves. Early on, West Ham looked anxious after Max Kilman received a yellow card for a foul on Ousmane Diakite. Mohammadou Kante had an early shot deflected over by Jayson Molumby, but the visitors soon took charge.

How the goals went down

West Brom opened the scoring after 20 minutes. Isaac Price passed through the home defence to set up Jimmy-Jay Morgan, whose low cross found Felix Horn Myhre for a close range finish. Price missed a chance shortly after, spooning wide from eight yards, but West Ham found an equaliser when Jarrod Bowen shot from an angle. His effort deflected off Callum Styles and rolled in. It was Bowen's seventh goal of the season.

Home supporters booed their team off at the interval. Just three minutes after the restart, West Brom restored their lead. Price crossed from the left, Myhre cushioned the ball to Morgan, and Morgan scored his fourth goal of the season from the corner of the six yard box.

Late trouble for the Hammers

West Ham tried to respond as Kilman saw a header saved and Kyle Walker-Peters had a long range shot stopped by Max O'Leary. However, Walker-Peters then limped off with a thigh injury after West Ham had already used all five substitutes.

Two minutes later, West Brom sealed the win. Price took a corner that was only half cleared to Styles, lurking 20 yards out, and his fierce deflected shot gave Mads Hermansen no chance. West Ham struggled to fight back, with substitute Taty Castellanos hitting a bicycle kick straight at O'Leary in added time.
