Former Cowboys Star Dez Bryant Speaks Out After Police Citation
Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant wants a full police investigation after receiving an assault citation in Southlake, Texas.

Parking Lot Confrontation
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is asking police for a thorough investigation after an incident on Sunday led to him receiving an assault citation.
Bryant, 37, said he confronted two drivers in a Mexican restaurant parking lot in Southlake, Texas. He said the drivers had cut him off in traffic. An argument started with one of the men. Bryant said the driver insinuated he might shoot him.
According to Bryant, he told the man that if he pulled a gun, he had better use it. The driver did not draw a weapon. Instead, he pulled out a cell phone to record the interaction. Bryant then knocked the phone out of the man's hand.
Police Action and Citation
The man called the police. When officers arrived, they ordered all three men to the ground at gunpoint and placed them in handcuffs. Bryant said he was concerned about his children seeing him on the ground with a gun pointed at him. His girlfriend later arrived with his two daughters and recorded the scene on video.
Southlake police spokesperson Captain Blas Hernandez stated that officers drew weapons as a precaution because 911 calls indicated a potential weapon at the scene. No firearms were recovered.
Bryant was the only person cited. He received a citation for assault by contact, which carries a $367 fine and a hearing set for November 20. Bryant described the investigation as very one sided. He urged police to treat everyone fairly and review all surveillance footage.
Bryant last played in the NFL in 2020. He remains the Cowboys all time leader in touchdown receptions with 73.
