Jeffery Simmons Leads Chicago Bears To Big Victory Over Seahawks
Jeffery Simmons made an immediate impact in his debut as the Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-17.

Simmons makes immediate impact in debut
Jeffery Simmons did not waste any time making his mark for the Chicago Bears. After trading two first round picks and a fourth rounder to acquire the All Pro defensive tackle last week, Chicago saw immediate results in a 34-17 road win against the Seattle Seahawks.
When Simmons was on the field, Seattle struggled to move the ball. The Seahawks averaged just 3.0 yards per play across 48 plays with Simmons present. On the eight plays he sat out, Seattle averaged 13.3 yards per play. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold completed less than half of his passes with Simmons out there, but went 5 of 5 with a touchdown when Simmons rested.
Williams and Swift direct the offense
Quarterback Caleb Williams opened the game with a 17-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. That was the longest opening drive for the franchise since 2007 against Green Bay. Williams leaned heavily on play action, completing 10 of 15 passes for 109 yards and a score off play action looks. He finished the night completing 70.6% of his passes for 247 yards.
Running back D'Andre Swift managed only 57 yards on 24 carries, but he scored three touchdowns. That brings his season total to 10 rushing scores. Swift is the first Chicago player with 10 rushing touchdowns in the team's first eight games since Rick Casares accomplished the feat in 1956.
Seahawks make too many mistakes
Seattle fell to 4-3 after dropping three of its past four games. Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He was sacked three times behind an offensive line missing left tackle Charles Cross due to an ankle injury.
Seattle also hurt itself on special teams with five separate errors. Kicker Jason Myers missed an extra point and had a 33-yard field goal blocked. The Seahawks allowed season highs in both points with 34 and total yards with 363.
