Milwaukee Celebrates Long Return to the World Series
Milwaukee fans celebrate their first World Series trip in 44 years as the Brewers unite the city.

A Party 44 Years in the Making
Fans across Milwaukee gathered in late October 2026 to celebrate a moment decades in the making. The Brewers reached the World Series for the first time in 44 years, ending a wait that stretched back to 1982. From watch parties in Catalano Square to local restaurants streaming Game 1 in their kitchens, the entire city embraced the occasion.
At Saz's State House near the Miller brewery, 82 year old owner Steve Sazama felt the emotion of the run. Talking about Brewers manager Pat Murphy, Sazama said, "I said his name, and I got goose bumps." Sazama had flown on Ozark Air Lines to watch the team play in St. Louis back in 1982.
Connecting Generations of Baseball Fans
The long wait included a 25 year stretch from 1983 to 2007 without a single postseason appearance. For older supporters, this fall brought back memories of 1982, when Milwaukee beat California 4-3 to win the American League Championship Series before losing Game 7 to St. Louis.
Steve Rypel was nine years old when Milwaukee lost that series and cried when it ended. His mother comforted him and told him the team would return. At age 53, he texted her to say that she was finally right.
Local historian John Gurda pointed out the connection between the roster and the community. Gurda explained that the players have no grandstanders, reflecting the unpretentious city. That spirit carried the team through a victory over the Dodgers in 2026, drawing comparisons to 1957 when the Milwaukee Braves defeated the Yankees.
