Packers Lose Reed and Bako-Bewele to Serious Injuries on Back-to-Back Plays

The Green Bay Packers suffered a major blow during Sunday's game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Two of their key offensive players were carted off the field on back-to-back plays in a shocking start to the game.

Wide receiver Jayden Reed and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele both sustained serious injuries early in the contest. The Packers medical staff acted quickly, and the team ruled both players out for the remainder of the game almost immediately.

The trouble started on just the second play from scrimmage. Reed caught a swing pass in the left flat for a four yard gain. At the end of the run, he took a hard hit to his head and neck area. Jets linebacker Demario Davis made the initial hit on the play, and Kingsley Enagbare may have also made contact with Reed after that.

Reed remained down on the turf, and players from both teams took a knee in support. Medical staff from both the Packers and the Jets attended to the young receiver for several minutes. They eventually placed Reed on a stabilizing backboard and strapped his helmet down before carting him away.

Another Blow for the Offense

The very next play brought even more bad news for the Green Bay offense. Right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele suffered a right knee injury and was also unable to walk off the field.

The medical team immediately placed Bako-Bewele's leg in a cast before he got on the cart. Losing a starting wide receiver and a key offensive lineman on consecutive plays is a massive blow to the team's depth.
