A Gift for Mama Yax

Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg reached a personal milestone off the court this week. The 24 year old surprised his mother, Yissel Raposo, with a brand new home in California.

Lendeborg posted a YouTube video on Friday titled "This one's for Mama Yax." The house will help his mother complete her move from New Jersey to California. Friends and family gathered outside before Lendeborg handed his mom a box containing the key.

It took two to three months to secure the property. Lendeborg noted on X that a lifelong goal had finally been accomplished. He wrote that no gesture is big enough to thank his mother for her love and sacrifice, adding that it is about making sure the people who believed in him get to enjoy the blessings too.

From High School to Michigan

Back during his senior year of high school in 2019, Lendeborg needed to complete 10 courses at a community college in one year to graduate. His mother told him that there was no more time to mess around, a conversation Lendeborg credited with saving his life.

His path to the NBA took several steps. He played three seasons at Arizona Western community college in Yuma, followed by two seasons at UAB. In 2025, he transferred to Michigan as a graduate student.

At Michigan, he averaged 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while helping lead the Wolverines to the national title. The Warriors then selected him with the No. 11 pick in the draft.

Strong Start with Golden State

Lendeborg has made an immediate impact on the court for Golden State. Through nine games, he is averaging 21 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. His early stretch included a 37 point performance on Nov. 1.
