Newcastle defender Lewis Hall says signing a new contract was a no brainer despite summer transfer interest from Manchester United.

Lewis Hall has committed his future to Newcastle United. The 22 year old defender signed a new long term contract on September 11, shutting down speculation about a potential move.
Manchester United had made the England fullback their primary target for the left back position during the summer transfer window. However, the club never made an official bid.
Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea on an initial loan in 2023, which became a permanent transfer the following year. His strong performances quickly made him a key player for the team.
Handling Transfer Rumours
The transfer rumours did not distract the young defender. Hall viewed the interest from Manchester United as a compliment rather than a distraction.
"I guess whenever you're linked to another team, you know that you're doing something right," Hall said. He added that he took the interest as a positive reflection of his performances on the pitch.
Ultimately, Hall felt staying with Newcastle was the right choice. He explained that once the club started bringing in new players to improve the squad, signing a new deal became a no brainer for him.
Delivering on the Pitch
Hall is already rewarding Newcastle for their trust. He scored the winning goal in their recent 2-1 victory against Hull City on Saturday.
His club form has also earned him a recall to the England national team. This comes as a boost for Hall, who had missed out on the previous World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to struggle. After finishing third last season, they currently sit in 12th place during the first international break of the campaign.
Taking It Game by Game
While Hall has signed a new long term contract, he remains focused on the immediate future. He admitted he does not look too far ahead but is grateful for the support from his manager and the board.
"I'm just taking it game by game, just trying to do the best I can for this club," Hall said. He noted that as long as Newcastle can achieve their ambitions, he expects to remain with the club for a long time.
Newcastle will return to action after the international break when they travel to face Coventry City on October 12.
