Aubameyang Matches Ibrahimovic Record in Dream LaLiga Start
Deportivo striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has equalled a LaLiga record by scoring in each of his first five matches this season.

A Historic Start in Spain
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is making headlines in Spain. The 37 year old striker scored the equalising goal for Deportivo in their 1-1 draw against Getafe on Sunday. With that goal, he became the first player to score in each of the first five LaLiga games of a season since Zlatan Ibrahimovic did it for Barcelona in the 2009 to 2010 season.
Aubameyang has now joined an elite group of just 10 players to achieve this feat in Spain. Before his goal against Getafe, the former Arsenal and Chelsea forward scored against Elche, Málaga, Valencia, and Villarreal.
Praise From the Dressing Room
His teammates and manager are delighted with his impact. Aubameyang has contributed to seven of Deportivo's nine goals this season. His performances have helped the recently promoted club remain unbeaten in LaLiga. They currently sit sixth in the table.
Deportivo captain Ximo Navarro praised the striker, calling him a global star. Navarro said, "We do everything we can to help him score goals and try to capitalise on his current form."
Deportivo coach Antonio Hidalgo was also full of praise, highlighting the veteran's work rate late in the game. Hidalgo said, "In the 92nd minute, he made a stunning run back, and that speaks volumes about his commitment and humility."
Aubameyang returned to Spanish football this summer after a brief loan spell with Barcelona in 2022. After the match, he shared his thoughts on Instagram, writing, "A tough match, but we're racking up the points ... Come on, team." Deportivo will host Sevilla on Wednesday.
