Frank Reich Wants Garrett Wilson Involved in Jets Offense
Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich speaks on getting star receiver Garrett Wilson targeted more consistently.

Noise on the sideline
New York Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich is fine with star wide receiver Garrett Wilson demanding the football. Reich noted that he likes when players make a little bit of noise about getting targets. Head coach Aaron Glenn also chimed in on the headset during games, reminding Reich to get playmakers involved if Wilson goes a stretch without a touch.
Wilson was visibly upset after last week's 26-19 loss to the New England Patriots, having been targeted only twice through the first three quarters. He ended the day with four catches for 44 yards. It was the second time in four Jets losses that Wilson was not a factor in the attack.
Big stats and injury updates
Even with those quiet games, Wilson is producing. He currently ranks ninth in the league in receptions with 35, 14th in receiving yards with 418, and 15th in total targets with 48. Wilson signed a four year $130 million contract extension last year, and he gets frustrated when the team loses while he is not a big part of the offense.
The star wideout said he has not asked coaches for new ways to get the ball, adding that he believes they are doing everything in their power. Wilson explained that he needs to keep a sniper mentality and capitalize on every chance.
Meanwhile, Wilson drawing extra defensive attention helped rookie Omar Cooper Jr. break out for six catches, 103 yards, and a touchdown against New England. The 2-4 Jets rank 25th in scoring at 18.7 points per game as they prepare to host the 0-5 Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.
Reinforcements could be on the way for New York. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell may return after missing four games following finger surgery. Running back Breece Hall, who missed three games with a quadriceps injury, returned to practice on a limited basis on Thursday.
