Giannis Fouls Out as Heat Drop Third Straight in Loss to Hornets
Miami fell to 0-3 after a 115-110 loss to Charlotte, where Giannis Antetokounmpo scored just 14 points before fouling out.

Heat Struggles Continue in Charlotte
The Miami Heat fell to 0-3 on the season following a 115-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night. The defeat marks the first 0-3 start for head coach Erik Spoelstra in his 19 years leading Miami.
Giannis Antetokounmpo struggled in his new uniform. The two time MVP scored just 14 points before fouling out with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Davion Mitchell led the Heat with 22 points, while Bam Adebayo added 20. Pelie Larsson chipped in 15 points off the bench and Klay Thompson scored 14.
Hornets Bounce Back Strong
Charlotte was playing without injured starters Kon Knueppel and Coby White. The team was coming off a brutal 128-81 loss to Atlanta on Friday, but bounced back in front of a sellout crowd of 19,611 at Spectrum Center.
Brandon Miller led the way for Charlotte with 34 points. Dennis Schroder added 25 points, Naz Reid scored 23, and Grayson Allen had 20. After hitting just 11 of 51 shots from three point range on Friday, Charlotte made 16 of 43 on Saturday. Five of those long distance shots came during a 24-7 run in the third quarter that pushed the Hornets lead to 92-70.
Late Rally Falls Short
With Antetokounmpo in foul trouble, Spoelstra put together a lineup of Mitchell, Adebayo, Larsson, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Bobby Portis Jr. to start a comeback. Miami fought back to tie the game at 100, 102, and 104.
With 3:46 left, Allen made a shot from the left wing while being fouled by Hardaway as the shot clock expired. Allen made the free throw to complete a four point play and give Charlotte a 108-104 lead. Miami could not get closer than three points after that play.
