Top receivers ruled out

The Philadelphia Eagles will play without their top two wide receivers on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Both DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks have been officially ruled out.

Smith has dealt with hamstring issues since the summer, when he missed part of training camp. He tweaked the hamstring in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Smith recently said that he thought being dehydrated in the Nashville heat was a contributing factor. He played through the problem the next week, missed the following two games, and returned last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers to catch seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. However, Smith could not practice at all this week.

Wicks appeared on the practice report this week because of an ankle injury. This matchup will mark the first game he misses with the Eagles.

Injury updates across the roster

The offense could receive better news elsewhere on the field. Tight end Dallas Goedert expects to play through a knee injury after missing the first two practice sessions this week.

Running back Saquon Barkley is questionable with a hamstring issue, while offensive lineman Landon Dickerson is questionable with knee and pectoral problems. Both players could return to provide help for the offense.

On defense, edge rusher Nolan Smith will not play after suffering a concussion. Fellow pass rusher Jonathan Greenard is questionable with an ankle injury. Greenard spoke to reporters on Friday and said he will be a game time decision.
