Sheri Sam Joins Indiana Fever Front Office as Assistant GM
The Indiana Fever have hired former WNBA champion Sheri Sam away from the Portland Trail Blazers to serve as assistant general manager.

New Front Office Addition
The Indiana Fever have filled a key front office spot by hiring Sheri Sam as their new assistant general manager. Sam makes the jump to the WNBA franchise after working for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA. She had served as Portland's scouting manager since 2022.
In her previous job with the Trail Blazers, Sam handled duties that included evaluating and scouting players at both the collegiate and professional levels.
Scouting and Analytics Focus
The move aligns directly with Indiana's overall goals. The team had planned to make investments into its scouting and analytics departments, and bringing Sam into the mix marks a step in that direction.
Sam brings plenty of basketball background to her new role. She played for 10 years in the WNBA during her professional career. She also won two WNBA championships as a player, earning her first title with Seattle in 2004 and her second with Detroit in 2008.
Leadership Changes in Indiana
Her arrival comes at a major transition point for the organization. Indiana is still without a team president and general manager. That open spot happened after Kelly Krauskopf stepped down and Amber Cox was fired last week.
The Fever are coming off a campaign where they finished with a 28-16 regular season record. That record earned them the No. 6 seed in the playoffs for the third consecutive season. However, their year came to an end when they lost to the Las Vegas Aces in the first round.
