Chet Holmgren Out Eight to Ten Weeks With Knee Injury
Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren suffered a right knee patellar tendon tear and will miss eight to ten weeks.

Major Blow for Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma City Thunder received difficult news on Friday night. Star power forward and center Chet Holmgren will miss eight to ten weeks after suffering a patellar tendon tear in his right knee.
Holmgren felt mild discomfort in his right knee on Sunday. He met with a series of specialists before deciding to undergo a biological treatment on Friday to address what the team described as a small tear.
Injury Troubles Mount for Starters
Holmgren is now the third Oklahoma City starter ruled out for an extended period this week. Forward Jalen Williams and guard Cason Wallace both went down with serious injuries during Sunday game against the Clippers.
Williams suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle. He had surgery on Wednesday. Wallace suffered a torn labrum and underwent surgery on Friday. The team expects both players to be reevaluated before the end of this regular season.
Holmgren History and Performance
This marks the third significant injury for the seven footer since the team selected him with the second overall pick in the 2022 draft. Holmgren missed his entire rookie season in 2022 and 2023 after breaking his foot. He also missed a few months during the 2024 and 2025 regular season with a fractured pelvis, though he returned to play a key role in the Thunder championship run.
When healthy, Holmgren is a major contributor. He earned first team All Defensive and third team All NBA honors last season while averaging 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
